Located on the eastern coast of Maranhão, Arpoador sits between the Parnaíba Delta and the Pequenos Lençóis Maranhenses, one of Brazil’s most remarkable coastal landscapes.

The journey begins in São Luís, followed by a scenic drive of approximately 320 km (5 to 5.5 hours) through Bacabeira, Rosário, Morros, Icatu, Barreirinhas, Paulino Neves and Tutóia. The final stretch to Arpoador takes between 15 and 25 minutes along coastal roads, where, depending on tides and weather conditions, vehicles with greater traction may be recommended.

This region is internationally known as part of the Route of Emotions, a route connecting some of the most extraordinary natural destinations in northeastern Brazil.

Still relatively undiscovered, Arpoador has quietly become one of the most promising kitesurfing destinations in the country. Shallow waters, consistent winds and a low concentration of riders create ideal conditions for fast, safe and enjoyable progression.

Throughout the Kitetrip immersion, the learning experience is led by Kitesurf Life (IKO), an internationally certified kite school offering official courses, structured methodology and experienced instructors.

To provide a complete immersion that combines accessible learning, consistent technical progression and an authentic experience in one of Brazil’s most extraordinary wind destinations.

Alongside the sporting development, the journey encourages meaningful group connection, access to some of Maranhão’s most iconic landscapes and a smooth, well-supported operation from arrival to departure.

WHY ARPOADOR?

My journey in kitesurfing began in 2013, driven by a search for consistent wind, freedom and a deeper connection with the ocean.

Since then, I have immersed myself in the sport, organizing events in Trancoso, Bahia, alongside internationally recognized athletes and helping strengthen the local kite community. Over the years, I have participated in numerous long-distance downwinds across Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Piauí and Maranhão, gaining firsthand experience in some of the world’s most celebrated wind corridors.

In 2016, I first arrived in Arpoador and immediately felt I had discovered one of the most extraordinary places on the planet for kitesurfing.

From that moment on, my connection to the region only deepened. I began creating experiences that would allow friends and newcomers to safely enter the world of kiteboarding, many of whom had always dreamed of learning but never felt confident enough to start.

By bringing together qualified professionals, a proven teaching methodology and the region’s most spectacular landscapes, I developed an exclusive journey that transforms a first encounter with kitesurfing into a safe, progressive and truly memorable experience.

PROGRAM

DAY 1 · SÃO LUÍS

Participants arrive individually at São Luís International Airport throughout the day.

Our team coordinates logistics groups of three to four guests per vehicle and provides guidance regarding rental car pick-up.

After check-in at the hotel, there will be time to rest before a light afternoon visit to São Luís’ historic center, creating an opportunity for introductions, group integration and an initial briefing about the days ahead.

DAY 2 · ARPOADOR

Early departure from São Luís in a coordinated convoy towards Arpoador, with approximately 4.5 hours of overland travel.

A technical stop is planned along the route.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a special reception and a welcome lunch. In the afternoon, a guided exploration of the Pequenos Lençóis Maranhenses offers the group's first immersion into the region’s unique landscape.

At the end of the day, a technical meeting with the kite instructors covers skill assessment, safety procedures and the riding logistics for the coming days.
